 Genre: Christianity Paperback: 51 pages
Description: A young pastor discovers through a spiritual vision how judgementalism and self-righteousness are hindering growth in both his church and his personal relationship with God.
Synopsis: Have you prayed for revival for years upon years but your church just doesn't seem to be growing? Do you ever fear that one small mistake will negate your Salvation? Have you been taught that short hair, jewelry, and pants on women is sinful? Or that beards and shorts are sinful for men? Do you find yourself judging other Christian women who wear makeup or pants? Does something in your church's doctrine make you wonder if other Christians of different denominations are actually saved? Do you ever feel a heaviness or a sadness that cannot be explained?
If you believe that outward appearance is more important than faith, then this book is for you. Follow a young pastor in his walk with Christ as he discovers through a spiritual vision the areas in which both he and his congregation are in bondage to legalism; and are thus hindering revival.
Author's Note: Many years ago, after moving away from home, I attended a legalistic and dogmatic church for a while; a "United Pentecostal Church." This short fictional story was directly inspired by my experiences there. Galatians 2:8-9 says, "For by grace are you saved, through faith and that not of yourselves. It is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast." |
