"Free Love." Is It Really Free?
Pro-life
Image Source: http://www.photoshopisland.com/island-journal/free-love-photoshop-loversSome people have sex because they're in love. Others have sex because everyone else is; or for fear they'll lose their partner if they don't. Still others have sex to try and boost their self-esteem; to feel wanted. And some say they have sex just for fun.

Whatever the reasons might be, any sex outside of marriage is defined as "free love" ...

My Beef with the New 100 Calorie Snack Packs
Health & Nutrition

Image Source: http://www.deliberatemovementlbc.com/2011/04/down-with-100-calorie-packs/Whoever it was who came up with the concept of “100 Calorie Packs” is a marketing genius. I mean seriously, this person (or persons) has hit the jack pot. With the countless diet merchandise and foods already out there, it’s impressive that someone came up with something so deceptively simple; it has already permeated every grocery and convenience store shelf out there with immediate success.

Psychologically, the advertising possibilities are endless. People are falling for this hook, line and sinker. Made by Nabisco, these "100 Calorie Packs" offer any one of your favorite, forbidden snack foods in a mini little package. Doritos, Oreo Cookies, Ritz Crackers, Teddy Grahams . . . whatever you’re craving, chances are you can find it all wrapped up in pretty little “100 Calorie” bow. ...

How To Reduce Your Grocery Bill (while improving your diet at the same time!)
Health & Nutrition

Image Source: http://www.dvo.com/newsletter/monthly/2011/april/remedy2.htmlMy husband and I have recently discovered how to greatly reduce our monthly grocery bill while improving our diet at the same time.

Without going off on a major tangent about the dangers of eating processed foods, suffice it to say that processed foods (basically any food that comes in a colorful cardboard box/bag), deep-fried restaurant and snack foods (fries, chips, donuts), and grocery-store baked goods (muffins, pastries, cakes, cookies) are laden with chemicals, outrageous proportions of sugar and iodized salt, artificial ingredients, preservatives, and trans fats (hydrogenated oils, shortening, lard). So, why does this matter? ...

The god of the West
Faith

Image Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_calfI’ve been reading through the Old Testament and it seems so shocking the way the Israelites were constantly forgetting the Lord and going back to worshipping idols made of gold. I’ve always found that hard to comprehend: If you saw God part the Red Sea with your own eyes, how could you later “forget” about him and bow down to a hand-crafted, golden calf, of all things?

Yet every generation seemed to breed a new generation that had no interest in God. And of course, the children hadn’t seen the miracles of God firsthand, as their parents had, so to them, it really had no more effect on their lives than any other “fairytale.” ...

Memoir of a “Thin Eater”
Health & Nutrition

Image Source: http://www.foodbubbles.com/blog/2009/04/23/dieting-in-bushs-torture-memos/I used to be overweight.

And I remember those days all too well. Envying thin people day in and day out. Obsessed with the scale, obsessed with the mirror. It's just so easy for skinny people, right? They can eat whatever they want and stay thin and beautiful. Yeah. ... SURE. But, that's really how it seemed at the time.

I was just fifteen. I was 50 lbs overweight. I hated myself.

Starved for Affection
Random Musings
Image Source: http://www.showmixx.com/online-hug-day-smshug-picturehug-day-quoteshug-scrapsmsg.htmlI vividly remember a time when I was young, perhaps eleven, when I was sitting with a group of boys and girls the same age, listening to a Sunday School teacher talk to us about some important spiritual lesson. Now I have no idea what that lesson was, I simply remember one split second of that night – a memory that has stayed with me ever since.

Why I'm Prolife
Pro-life

Image Source: http://www.cogus.com.au/Main/4d.htmI worked on a project in high school when I was sixteen that was the beginning of my research on the controversial issue of abortion. I was horrified to see photographs of garbage cans and bloody buckets filled with dismembered and/or fully-formed, dead fetuses. I was shocked that it was legal.

Since then, the prolife cause has been a deep-rooted passion for me: my heart longing to expose the truth to others - as well as the lies. ...

Mission Trip to Zambia and South Africa
Faith
Going to Africa this summer was an eye-opener in more ways than one. Things that I saw and heard that impacted my life will always be with me. Some were lessons that will bless me throughout my life, others will haunt me always. There is a lot of pain and suffering in this world and we all know this. Seeing some of this suffering first hand is a very sobering experience, to say the least. ...
